Following the great success of last year’sFrenchMay (dance and circus performances at the National Theatre), the Institut Français de Birmanie is glad to present La French Touch Festival.

During the months of May and June, discover a series of events bringing in Myanmar the best of French cultures. A mix of performing arts (dance and circus), media and new technologies (Virtual Reality), movies and music enhancing Yangon and Mandalay as growing cultural cities.

CINEMA | OPENING SCREENING | INTOUCHABLES

WEDNESDAY MAY3rd|  6.30 pm | GAMONEPWINT MALL

In collaboration with Mingalar Cinemas, IFB is glad to launch a monthly programming of the best of French movies in one of Yangon’s Cinema, for the first time in Myanmar. One film per month, screened every Wednesday at 6.30 pm in the Mingalar Cinema of Gamone Pwint Mall.

In May the international hit INTOUCHABLES will open the screening series. The film is featuring François Cluzet and Omar Sy, in a unique friendship story between a paraplegic and his caretaker.

The Institut Français and Digital District are proud to impulse the first VR festival in Yangon

VR ART FEST is a confluence of creative streams . A festival without competition where young minds round up to watch, learn, experiment and create. Among the highlight of the festival is the 48H Hackathon, where young talents from all disciplines assemble to give birth to a VR film/experience in 48 Hours. Their creations will be presented to the public along with other programs such as Kids Day on Friday 12th, VR Talks, Screenings etc.

A premiere in the IFB garden where families and all kind of public can enjoy a sensorial experience.

HIP HOP DANCE | IN THE MIDDLE by Swaggers Company

Swaggers Crew presents a cross-border choreography from classical music to Hip Hop with imaginative light show. This dance piece demonstrates that in a universe of Hip-hop, women can ‘own’ the place.

FETE DE LA MUSIQUE | June 24th IFB and other venues in Yangon

The Fête de la Musique, is an annual music celebration happening all over the world where amateur and professional musicians are encouraged to perform under the slogan “Faites de la musique” (Make Music!)

This year, the Institut Français de Birmanie will work with venues around town to promote this spirit of “Music Everywhere”.
 For the occasion, IFB is also inviting French Pop sensation Charles-Baptiste at the IFB.
