9th Yangon Photo Festival

Myanmar Stories The new generation of Myanmar photographers will have the opportunity to display their work to an audience of tens of thousands as, for the first time in its nine year history, the YPF screens their work in the heart of Yangon, MahaBandoola Park. Since 2008, the YPF has trained more than five hundred young men and women from all regions and ethnic origins. They document important social, cultural and environmental issues with powerful photo-stories. In addition to the work of local photographers from all around the country, the festival will host two exceptional collections celebrating Myanmar’s extraordinary ethnic diversity: the “Frontiers Photographs (1918-1935)” of James Henry Green and “In Search of Dignity”, the superb series of portraits taken by famous German photographer Günter Pfannmüller in the 80’s and 90’s. This year the YPF will once again showcase the Word Press Photo Exhibition. As freedom of information, freedom of inquiry and freedom of speech are more important than ever, quality visual journalism is essential for the accurate and independent reporting that makes these freedoms possible. After a week of screenings and exhibition, the Yangon Photo Festival will culminates on 11th March with its Yangon Photo Night where the best Myanmar photo-stories are screened to a large public audience in front of a jury of personalities. Among other prizes such as DSLR cameras, two photographers will win a chance to study photography in Europe Schedule YPF 2017 – 2302 – Final www.yangonphoto.com...
